What is Pulse Wellness Club?

Pulse is a social wellness club rather than a gym with a spa attached. One membership covers training, recovery and the social space, so there is no second subscription for the pool and no surcharge for the sauna. The intent is that a member can move, recover and sit down with someone in the same visit, inside an hour.

The format is an open gym. Members train when they choose and at their own pace. Pulse does not run a mandatory class timetable, and it is not a class studio — see open gym versus class gym in Malta for the difference and why the club is built this way.

Who operates Pulse Wellness Club?

Pulse Wellness Club is operated by Carisma Wellness Group, registered in Malta as Carisma Wellness Group Ltd., company registration number C 106006, VAT number MT30347620, at Grand Hotel Excelsior, Great Siege Road, Valletta, Malta. The same details appear on the club’s terms and conditions and privacy policy, and they are the entity a member contracts with.

Carisma Wellness Group runs wellness businesses across Malta. The massage service inside Pulse is staffed by Carisma Spa, its spa and wellness brand, so the therapist treating a member at the club is a spa therapist rather than a gym employee with a side skill. The group’s other brands are Carisma Aesthetics and Carisma Slimming.

Where is Pulse Wellness Club?

The club is inside the Grand Hotel Excelsior on Great Siege Road, Valletta, overlooking Marsamxett Harbour. An 8-minute walk from Valletta's central bus station. That matters more in Malta than it sounds: for anyone living or working in or around the capital, every other club with both a gym floor and a pool is a drive away.

Parking is at the hotel, and the harbour view from The Admiral’s Landing is the reason most members stay longer than they planned. If you would rather see it than read about it, request a tour or take the walk-through of the club.

What is inside the club?

Every membership includes the full club. There is no recovery tier and no facility surcharge.

Train
A full Technogym floor — cardio (treadmills, bikes, rowers, stair machines), strength with free weights, racks and benches, and a functional zone with TRX and kettlebells.
Recover
Indoor pool, Finnish sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, relaxation room, spacious private lockers and rainfall showers.
Connect
The Admiral's Landing — the members' lounge, looking out over the harbour — plus member events and live DJ sessions.
Restore and measure
Expert massage by Carisma Spa. Tanita body-composition scanning comes with the founding membership and the Lean-Down programme.

What the club does not have is as useful to know: there are no group classes and no class timetable. Members train when they choose.

What does membership cost?

Membership is monthly, in three tiers. Every tier includes the full Technogym floor, the indoor pool, the Finnish sauna, the steam room, the jacuzzi, the relaxation room and The Admiral’s Landing.

  • Off-Peak — €69/month

Access between 10am and 4pm, the club's quieter hours. Full Technogym floor, the recovery suite and The Admiral's Landing included.

  • All Access — €99/month

Full access at every opening hour, a permanent personal locker, two guest passes a month, member events and DJ nights, and a guided walkthrough on arrival.

  • VIP — €149/month

Everything in All Access, plus one expert massage by Carisma Spa each month, a dedicated wellness concierge, priority event access and a welcome ritual kit.

Prices last checked: August 2026. New members have seven days to settle in; if the club is not right, you can leave inside that week. Join the club online, or read the current tiers on the membership section.

When is Pulse Wellness Club open?

Pulse Wellness Club is open 7am to 9pm, seven days a week — 98 hours of access every week. Off-Peak membership covers 10am to 4pm; All Access and VIP cover every opening hour.

Why is membership capped?

Pulse caps total membership by design. When the club reaches capacity, new applicants join a waitlist rather than being sold a membership that makes the floor worse for everyone already on it. A volume gym cannot make that promise, because its model depends on selling more memberships than it has room for.

It is also the honest answer to the question people actually ask, which is whether the club will be full at six in the evening. When gyms in Malta are least busy covers the wider pattern.

Who writes The Pulse Journal?

The Pulse Journal is researched, written and fact-checked in-house by the editorial team at Pulse Wellness Club, and published by Carisma Wellness Group. Articles are attributed to the club rather than to an individual.

The standard the team holds itself to: claims about training and recovery are sourced to published research and the study is named in the text; prices quoted for other Maltese clubs carry the month they were checked and are re-verified quarterly; and where Pulse is compared with another club, the comparison states what Pulse does not offer as plainly as what it does.
